HVAC Rebates & Incentives in Georgia (2026)

Rebates change every year, and most homeowners leave money on the table because nobody told them what their home qualifies for. Here is what is available in our service area right now, in plain language. We check the current amounts on every quote and handle the paperwork for you.

Georgia Power — Home Energy Improvement Program

Georgia Power’s rebates (updated August 1, 2026, for the 2026–2028 cycle) cover up to 50% of installed cost up to a cap per measure, with a limit of $2,500 per customer per year. Equipment must be ENERGY STAR certified and the application goes in within 60 days of the paid invoice.

  • Air-source heat pump conversion (replacing electric-resistance heat): up to $1,500
  • Ductless mini-split (instant rebate through a participating installer): up to $500
  • Heat pump water heater: up to $800
  • Home Comfort Bundle (heat pump plus envelope work): up to $1,850 for electric-heated homes, $1,550 for gas-heated

Amounts are set by Georgia Power and can change; we confirm the current figure when we quote your job.

Jackson EMC and Walton EMC

If your power comes from an EMC instead of Georgia Power, you may have a rebate too. Jackson EMC (Jefferson, Hoschton, Braselton, parts of Gwinnett and Barrow) has offered $400 on qualifying heat pumps (15.2 SEER2 minimum, total-electric homes) and $500 on heat pump water heaters. Walton EMC (Monroe, Loganville, Bethlehem area) has offered $200 on heat pumps and $200 on heat pump water heaters for fossil-fuel conversions. EMC programs change without much notice — tell us who your power company is and we will check.

Georgia HEAR rebates (state program)

Georgia’s Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program for income-qualified households was paused on August 14, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen with limited funding in October 2026 — under the revised program, single-family rebates are limited to electrical panel and wiring work alongside an approved efficiency project. We watch this one and will tell you if your project can use it.

Federal tax credit — no longer available

The federal 25C energy-efficiency tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. Systems installed in 2026 or later do not qualify. If another company is still advertising a federal tax credit, ask them to put it in writing.

How we handle it

  • Your written quote shows every rebate your home qualifies for, with the amount.
  • We install ENERGY STAR-qualified GE Connect systems that meet the efficiency thresholds.
  • Our office submits the Georgia Power or EMC application and the required documentation for you within the deadline.
  • Rebates stack with our 0% for 72 months financing.

Frequently asked questions

Do you file the rebate for me? Yes. Our office prepares and submits the Georgia Power or EMC rebate application with the invoice and equipment documentation, within the program deadline.

Which heat pumps qualify? Rebates require ENERGY STAR-certified equipment and, for Georgia Power’s conversion rebate, replacement of electric-resistance heat. The GE Connect side-discharge systems we install meet the efficiency requirements; we confirm eligibility on your quote.

Is there still a federal tax credit for a new heat pump? No. The federal 25C credit ended December 31, 2025, and does not apply to systems installed in 2026 or later.

Can I combine rebates with financing? Yes. The rebate comes back to you after installation; the 0% for 72 months plan is applied to the installed price.

We called American Comfort to our home to fix our heat and they did an AWESOME job!
